At Upper Room Ministries
More than a fifteen years ago, the Upper Room Ministries, AOG started as an out station church of the Liberty Port Church of the Nazarene. As an out station, the then Upper Room Ministries Church of the Nazarene enjoyed the covering of an already established church while function fully on its own.
The church was led by Rev. Wesley Wilson with the full support of his wife, Deberah Wilson, and his children. Several members of Liberty Port Church of the Nazarene were also sent to work hand in hand with Rev. Wilson. Initially, the group met in the basement of a storefront building. Through the favor of God and aggressive evangelism, the church outgrew the space within a year of starting. Although the church has had to move several times in the past decade, its doors have never been closed.
In 2004, the Upper Room Ministries, AOG moved into the Brownsville area of Brooklyn, New York. In the past decade, the Upper Room Ministries, AOG boldly preached and stood on the word of God that continuously impact the community. In addition, the church has grown both in numbers and spirituality. There is a palpable hunger and thirst for the word and presence of God. Also, several times a year the Upper Room Ministries, AOG sponsors events and programs for the Brownsville community including food and clothing drives to health fairs and seminars. Today, the Upper Room Ministries is made up of members representing several nations, several working ministries and departments all functioning to represent Christ on the earth. Upper Room Ministries, AOG is a caring environment where the non-believer encounters salvation of Jesus Christ and the believer is built into the image of Jesus Christ.
The Upper Room Ministries, AOG has weathered many trials and tribulations, from having theological differences with our founding organization, and even members coming and going. In spite of it all, God has been immensely faithful to the Upper Room Ministries, AOG because it was founded on the truth of Jesus Christ.
